Ok, from what I understand, some S5500 machines require a RAM clear chip or chips to perform a saferam clear. Mine do not require this, and I hope yours don't either. If you do require clear chips, I can give you the procedure, but getting the chips is up to you. Here is the procedure for machines that don't require clear chips.

  1. Clear chip on those Ballys. You can try connecting the battery shorting jumper, (usually resting on one side of its 2 connections), on the MPU with the power off, hold both buttons in while powering the machine on and wait for a 'CL C' (clear) message to display. If the message does not appear, then its time to use clear chips.
  2. Slot Machine Parts. If you came looking for slot machine parts, you’ve come to the right place. East Coast Slots has one of the largest slot machine parts inventories in the nation from LEDs to full conversion kits. If it goes anywhere inside a slot machine, we probably have it.

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!
I am not able to find information on how to do a safe ram clear (error #83) on a Bally 5000 Plus Firecracker slot machine. I don't believe that this machine requires ram clear chips. I think that there is a jumper to be moved in the procedure but am not sure. Is there anybody out there that can help me? Sure would appreciate any information that will solve my problem.

1) Are you very sure it is a Bally 5000 and not a Bally 5500..?
2) Does your Machine have a 7-Seqment or vacuum display.
3) Can you tell me what the EPROM numbers of your game is , there should be 4 or 6.
If you send me this details , I will give you the easy ways to RAM_CLEAR the machine.
The are 3 ways to RAM_CLEAR the Bally 5000 , but some MExxxxxx firmware could change your procedure...
